Central Idaho offers a variety of recreational
opportunities. You can visit the two deepest canyons in North
America or enjoy the wildflowers around an alpine lake. Located
just two hours north of Boise is McCall, the gateway to the
Frank Church Wilderness. One hour north of McCall is Riggins,
gateway to the Salmon and Snake Rivers and the Seven Devils
Mountains. Hiking, camping, fishing, horse back rides, mountain
biking, climbing and riversports are some of the activities
that can be found on the Payette and Nez Perce National Forests.
If that doesn't sound like enough there are some great car
tours (historical and scenic), as well as quite a few natural
hotsprings that you can visit in the area. Numerous opportunities
for canoeing and a wide variety of whitewater rivers and creeks
make Central Idaho the capital of Idaho's legendary whitewater.
